William Wordsworth

By: Brooke F.

William Wordsworth was born on April 7th 1770 and he died on April 23rd 1850 when he was 80 years old. Wordsworth was a great poet and was very well known. Wordsworth was born and raised in England. His father taught him about some poetry and allowed him to use his full library. His mother died when he was eight and this event was his inspiration for many of his later poems. He attended Hawkshead Grammar School and it is believed that this is where he got his love of poetry and first started writing. Williams Wordsworth was a great poet and I admire him because he wrote so many things that were written so long ago but everyone can still relate to him and the touching poems he wrote.

I, WANDERED lonely as a cloud That floats on high o'er vales and hills,When all at once I saw a crowd, A host, of golden daffodils Beside the lake, beneath the trees,Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shineAnd twinkle on the milky way,They stretched in never-ending lineAlong the margin of the bay:Ten thousand saw I at a glance,Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
The waves beside them danced; but theyOut-did the sparkling waves in gleeA poet could not but be gay,In such a jocund companyI gazed -- and gazed -- but little thoughtWhat wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lieIn vacant or in pensive mood,They flash upon that inward eyeWhich is the bliss of solitude; And then my heart with pleasure fills,And dances with the daffodils.
